Synopsis

Where better to start again than New York?

Iris arrives in the city of dreams, intent on restarting her culinary career, and leaving her recent heartache behind.

Wandering the streets at a famous food festival, Iris feels like she’s living in a movie. Then she stumbles upon a gelateria that looks strangely familiar. Inside, she meets Gio: a perfect leading man with an irresistible smile – and a crisis of his own.

As fate would have it, Iris is the one person with the answer to his problem. She just can’t tell him that . . .

So, can Iris finally let go of the past – and let herself fall in love?

Review

A stunning, swoony, endearing love story that’s such a joy to read. It’s full of sentiment as we are taken on an emotional journey exploring the powerful highs and lows of love in its many forms.

Silver’s excellent storytelling had me gripped as the well-crafted characters came alive. The terrific writing takes us on a delightful wander through New York right alongside Iris – I couldn’t stop reading and didn’t want my time with the characters to end! The cosy Winter vibes were spot on and added in making this such a warm and comforting read.

Iris moves to New York looking for a much needed fresh start and is determined to put her past behind her. Serendipity leads her to a door that holds a special connection to her Mum who she’s grieving. As Gio steps into her world, neither could predict the resulting closeness or heartbreak.

Gio has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders, he’s raising his daughter Bella after losing his wife some years ago, whilst trying to save the family business following a dire turn of events.

The reader is treated to a great supporting cast of characters. The friendship she finds in Bobby is heartwarming to see – he always offers a listening ear and is protective of Iris while helping her embrace life. I absolutely adored the Belotti clan who welcome Iris with open arms. I loved all their interactions and getting to know everyone, their closeness, traditions and loyalty to each other shone through.

What follows is a riveting novel about families, kismet connections, belonging, and living in the moment that made my heart sing and smile one minute and hurt the next!

Iris and Gio are both vulnerable, raw characters dealing with obstacles as they navigate their changing relationship. They are clearly made for each, but as the lies stack up, danger from the past threatens their future and conflicted feelings are pressing on both.

If you’re looking for a feel-good read with heart, humour and lovable characters, this is the book for you. I was so caught up in the story and beautiful world created that I didn’t want it to end!
